Project Overview
Renovation and refurbishment of the first floor of CSMCRI’s Old Marine Algae Lab building, bringing an ageing research facility up to contemporary standards. Laboratory renovation is among the more demanding categories of refurbishment work. The building fabric has to be upgraded while the specialised conditions researchers depend on are preserved — bench and service layouts, ventilation and extraction, water and drainage provision, and the surface specifications a working wet laboratory requires. Because a national laboratory’s research programmes run on multi-year cycles that cannot simply be suspended, work of this kind proceeds floor by floor with the institute continuing to operate around it, demanding careful containment of dust, noise, and access disruption. Delivering this for a CSIR national laboratory also placed the company within the Government of India’s scientific research estate — a client category with its own procurement, quality, and reporting standards.
